Sight Support

Low Vision Support Group

The monthly meeting is open to anyone from Lorain or Cuyahoga County who is visually impaired. Many of the speakers specialize in seniors with low vision impairment. Refreshments will be served. Low Vision Support Group through the Cleveland Low Vision Center

Westlake Village hosts the Low Vision Support Group through the Cleveland Low Vision Center This monthly meeting is open to all individuals with any type of vision loss or impairment. It is an excellent source of empathy and practical advice run by blind and visually impaired persons with the help of sighted volunteers. Multiple Sclerosis Support Group

Over Breathers Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous is a fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience, strength and hope, are recovering from compulsive overeating. We welcome everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively. There are no dues or fees for members.

Alzheimer’s & Dementia Support Groups

Facilitated by the Alzheimer’s Association

The Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Support Groups are designed to provide emotional, educational and social support for caregivers through regularly scheduled meetings. They help participants develop methods and skills to solve problems. The groups encourage caregivers to maintain their own personal, physical and emotional health, as well as optimal care for the person with dementia. Healing Arts Workshops

Sponsored by Hospice of the Western Reserve, Westlake Center for Community Services and SJMC

Healing Arts Workshops provide grieving people with a creative outlet for their grief and are open to all grieving people. No art experience is necessary. Register no later than four days in advance of workshop date. Suggested $5.00 donation for supplies.

Pocket Buddies Tuesday, September 10

6:30 – 8:30 pm

Sometimes it helps to have something to hold onto when you’re missing your loved one. Create a Pocket Buddy that embodies the personality and spirit of your loved one and is small enough to carry in your pocket or purse. Bits of your loved one’s clothing or other small items may be incorporated if you wish.

Quotation Spoons Tuesday, October 8

6:30 – 8:30 pm

This workshop offers a unique way to remember your loved one while creating a meaningful keepsake using old silver or silver-plated spoons. Bring a favorite phrase or quote from your loved one to incorporate into the artwork. If you wish, tiny photocopied photos can also be included. ** Spoons will be provided

Gratitude Bowls Tuesday, November 19

6:30 – 8:30 pm

November is our traditional month for giving thanks. At this workshop, create a bowl in which can be embedded words of gratitude for the gifts given to you by your loved one.
