Clinical Pastoral Education
The Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program at St. John Medical Center (SJMC) furthers the mission of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine to educate and foster the healing ministry of Jesus Christ. The CPE program offered at this component is accredited by The Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc (ACPE). The ACPE Accreditation Commission is recognized as an accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education. St. John Medical Center individually owns, operates and controls the CPE program at this component. This program of education is congruent with the mission of SJMC and the SCHS. The CPE educational program is overseen by Sr. Nancy Beckenhauer, OSU, along with the Vice President of Mission and Ministry. In addition, they both plan for the CPE budget. Along with the members of the Professional Advisory Group (PAG) they oversee the long-term viability of the CPE program at SJMC. The CPE program is administered through the Vice President of Mission and Ministry who oversees the daily operation of the CPE program at the component. The Vice President reports directly to the President and CEO of SJMC. Dr. Lynn Maitland, PhD, serves as the Vice President for Mission and Ministry and Sr. Kendra Bottoms, SND, serves as the director of Pastoral Care.
