St. John Medical Center Initiates 30-Minute Pledge for Emergency Care
Westlake – St. John Medical Center has introduced a new program designed to reduce waiting times in the emergency room and improve the quality of patient care. Called the “30-Minute Emergency Pledge,” the initiative assures that a member of a team of the ER physicians will see patients in 30 minutes or less.
"Emergency medicine is about skilled care and speed," says Roy Seitz, MD, medical director of St. John Medical Center’s Emergency Department. "When you’re hurt, sick or just not feeling well, the last thing you want to do is wait in an emergency room. That’s why we’ve introduced the 30-Minute Emergency Pledge."
The 30-minute pledge immediately begins when the patient checks in at the ER Registration Desk. Within 30 minutes, a physician will see the patient. In order to track performance, the time the patient is initially seen by the physician is logged on the patient’s chart.
"While our ER pledge is to see every patient within 30 minutes, the most critical health emergencies will always receive top priority," says Dr. Seitz.
The state-of-the-art Emergency Department at St. John Medical Center facilitates the medical staff’s ability to quickly assess an individual’s condition and respond appropriately. The medical center is one of the few Ohio hospitals with a Level III Trauma Center together with accredited Chest Pain and Primary Stroke Centers. Patients can be assured of a timely response following national standards, resulting in superior medical outcomes.
"Not only do we pledge to provide quick and efficient quality care,” says Dr. Seitz, “but we promise to do it with compassion and caring, too."
